v0.1: The "Barely Viable" Release
We just submitted this project to the Isolation Game Jam with less than two minutes to spare.
This is the first game we've made together, and the literal first game I've ever made. I'm still in the middle of a Udemy tutorial trying to build a text adventure. Jonathan is a much more experienced programmer, so he handled all the hard scripting like the entirety of an inventory system (I don't know what an IEnumerator is and don't think I'll understand it when I find out) while I did the simpler stuff which still took me an age like MOVING AROUND and NOT FALLING OVER ALL THE TIME.
Anyway, I think we're both pretty proud of getting this done. Entirely over Discord, entirely between the hours of 9pm and about 1am over a few nights a week over the last fortnight. It's far from finished and probably full of game-breaking bugs we haven't found yet, but I think the rough concept is pretty okay.
We'll be releasing an update in the next couple of weeks to add music, tidy stuff up, improve textures (we added the cave section yesterday and didn't have time to polish it much), and a bunch of other stuff. We'll put out a patch sooner if we find anything that's totally not working.
Stay tuned!
